  Description       

The BME280 is a digital humidity, pressure, and temperature sensor that is based on well-established sensing principles. The sensor module is housed in a metal-lid LGA package with a footprint of 2.5 2.5 mm2 and a height of 0.93 mm. Because of its small size and low power consumption, it can be used in battery-powered devices such as handsets, GPS modules, and watches. The BME280 digital pressure sensor is register and performance compatible with the Bosch Sensortec BMP280.

 

The BME280 performs admirably in all applications requiring humidity and pressure measurement. These emerging applications of home automation control, indoor navigation, fitness, and GPS refinement necessitate both high accuracy and low TCO. The humidity sensor has an extremely fast response time and high overall accuracy over a wide temperature range, making it ideal for fast context awareness applications. The pressure sensor is an absolute barometric pressure sensor with significantly higher accuracy and resolution than the Bosch Sensortec BMP180 and significantly lower noise. The noise and resolution of the integrated temperature sensor have been optimized. Its output is used to compensate the pressure and humidity sensors for temperature and can also be used to estimate the ambient temperature.
