Product Description
INA231 High- or Low-Side Measurement, Bidirectional Current and Power Monitor with 1.8-V I2C Interface
The INA231 is a current shunt and power monitor with a 1.8-V I2C-compatible interface with 16 programmable addresses. The INA231 monitors the shunt voltage drop and bus supply voltage, providing enhanced protection by asserting the ALERT pin when the respective values are outside the programmed range.
Programmable calibration values, conversion times, and averaging, combined with an internal multiplier, allow direct reading of current values in amperes and power values in watts, alleviating the host processing load.
The INA231 senses current on bus voltages between 0 and 28 V, and the device operates from a single 2.7- to 5.5-V supply, consuming 330 μA (typical) of supply current. The INA231 is rated for operation over the -40°C to +125°C temperature range.
The INA231 is available in two versions: the INA231A performs continuous conversion of the shunt and bus voltages at startup, while the INA231B starts in a low-current shutdown mode. This module uses the INA231A version.
