The VL53L0 sets a new standard for ToF (Time-of-Flight) ranging performance. STMicroelectronics has released its second-generation laser ranging sensor. Building on its successful FlightSense™ technology, the new VL53L0 delivers faster, longer, and more precise ranging capabilities, significantly improving camera performance in mobile phones and tablets and opening up new application opportunities in the robotics, user detection, drone, IoT, and wearable markets. The VL53L0 is the world's smallest ToF (Time-of-Flight) module, integrating a 940nm VCSEL light source, a SPAD photon detector, and an advanced microcontroller to manage the entire ranging function. The module's 940nm emission and advanced infrared filter ensure the VL53L0 offers industry-leading immunity to ambient light, minimizing the effects of ambient light. In end-product applications, the embedded microcontroller and digital algorithms minimize host processing load and system power consumption.
