The PCT2075 temperature sensor is a "code-compatible" drop-in replacement for the very common I2C temperature sensor, the LM75. However, compared to the LM75, the 11-bit ADC in the PCT2075 provides much better measurements than the LM75's 9-bit ADC. Also, because the PCT2075 allows the address pin to operate in three states (high, low, floating), you can have 27 PCT2075s on the same bus, compared to only 8 for the LM75. Now you can finally measure the temperature of each of three octopus tentacles instead of just one! Otherwise, the two sensors are identical. The PCT2075 will report the temperature and allow you to set a high temperature threshold, which the sensor will compare to the current temperature and sound an alarm if the current temperature exceeds the threshold. There are also some (metaphorical) knobs that can be used to change the alarm and measurement behavior. As with all Adafruit breakouts, we've done the work to make this handy temperature helper easy to use. We've put it on a breakout board with the required supporting circuitry and connectors to make it easy to use, and now we've added a SparkFun Qwiic-compatible STEMMA QT JST SH connector to allow you to use it without soldering. Simply use the STEMMA QT adapter cable, plug it into your favorite micro or Blinka-supported SBC, and you're ready to rock!
