Reza Electronics Releases Next Generation MCU Chips and Roadmap
2023-11-10

Reza Electronics, a global semiconductor solution provider, recently unveiled its next generation System on Chip (SoC) and Microcontroller (MCU) plans for all major applications in the automotive industry. As of now, the average annual shipment volume of all Ruisa MCUs in recent years has exceeded 3.5 billion, of which about 50% is used in the automotive industry, while the rest is used in industries, the Internet of Things, data centers, and communication infrastructure.

Renesa has pre announced the relevant information of the fifth generation R-Car SoC, which is aimed at high-performance applications and adopts advanced Chiplet small chip packaging and integration technology, which will bring greater flexibility to vehicle engineers in design. For example, if the Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) needs to balance more outstanding AI performance, engineers can integrate the AI accelerator into a single chip.

Renesa also shared two MCU product plans for the upcoming next-generation R-Car product family: one is a brand new cross-border MCU series, aimed at creating the required high performance for domain and regional electronic control units (ECUs) in the next-generation automotive E/E architecture. This product will narrow the performance gap between traditional MCUs and advanced R-Car SoCs; Renesa will also release an independent MCU platform tailored for vehicle control applications. Both MCUs will use Arm ® Architecture, and will become an important member of the outstanding R-Car product family, providing vehicle engineers with comprehensive scalability options and software reusability.

As part of the product roadmap, Reza plans to provide a virtual software development environment that aligns with the well-known "left shift" model in the automotive industry. These software tools will allow customers to design and test software earlier in the development process.

Vivek Bhan, Senior Vice President, Co General Manager of High Performance Computing, Analog and Power Solutions Group at Renesas stated, "Based on years of cooperation and discussion with first tier suppliers and OEM customers, Renesas has developed this roadmap. The most feedback we have received from customers is the need to accelerate development without affecting quality. This means that software design and validation must be initiated before hardware is available. Therefore, we will continue to invest in the" left shift "model and software priority innovation, Deploy new scalable embedded processors and strengthen Reza's already extensive network of development tools to help customers achieve their goals

It is reported that Ruisa Electronics was established in 2010, which was formed by the merger of Hitachi Semiconductor, Mitsubishi Electric Semiconductor, and NEC Electronics. It is now a leading global supplier of embedded semiconductors for wireless networks, automotive, consumer, and industrial markets, and a leader in the field of MCU chips. Its products cover a range of MCU product combinations from low power consumption to high-end, MPUs (microprocessors), and SoCs, As well as analog and power supply devices, it is a semiconductor company that can provide complete solutions.
