Kaixia stated that due to the reduction in production and improvement in supply and demand balance by various NAND Flash manufacturers, which have driven up selling prices, the combined revenue has increased by 31% compared to the same period last year to 322.1 billion yen. Armor Xia pointed out that the price of NAND Flash increased by 15-19% compared to the third quarter (October December 2023), marking the third consecutive quarter of increase; Last season, NAND Flash shipments increased by 5-9%. Armor Xia stated that the selling price in US dollars increased by about 20% last season.
In the fiscal year 2023 (April 2023 March 2024), the combined revenue of Kaixia decreased by 16% to 1076.6 billion yen, with a combined operating loss of 252.7 billion yen (2022 revenue was a loss of 99 billion yen) and a combined net profit loss of 243.7 billion yen (2022 net loss was 138.1 billion yen), marking the second consecutive year of losses. The loss set a new historical high for Kaixia's predecessor, Toshiba Storage, since April 2017.
In terms of new products, the Armor Xia's new generation UFS4.0 sample is being shipped, with smaller size, higher performance, and mobility, which helps improve the user experience of the product. The production of the 8th generation BiCS FLASH has started for the first time, with improvements in performance, density, and cost.
For the future market, Kaixia stated that as customer inventory returns to normal, it will drive a recovery in demand for PCs and mobile phones. We look forward to the emergence of AI products, the increase in storage capacity, and the replacement demand brought about by PC operating system updates.
Due to the need for high-density and high-capacity SSDs in AI applications, it is expected that the demand will increase in the future.
